Where it All Started

To know Alliance Transmissions, you need to know who runs things and where they came from. I grew up in the harsh yet beautiful state of Minnesota. My family was of humble beginnings and had a small farm just outside the big city of Minneapolis. I worked as a gas station mechanic during my formative years and after graduating high school, I joined the Navy. While there, I was trained as a Jet Mechanic. Eventually, I was stationed in San Diego at MCAS Miramar and started taking classes to achieve a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. While taking classes, a very wise professor had suggested that I would do best if I started my own company. At the time I didn't think much of it. After several years working in the in the electronics industry, for both big and small companies, I thought I could do a much better job than my then boss was. This is what started the process and eventually lead to the birth of Alliance Transmissions.

A Young Business

Like myself, Alliance was founded on humble beginnings. We opened at 1288 San Marcos Blvd. July 1987 with high hopes made possible with the help of small family loans and support from my wife, Laura. The launch of Alliance Transmissions was anything but smooth. The closure of San Marcos Boulevard, our main avenue of traffic, and a failed savings and loan company that owned the rest of the buildings in the Coleman shopping center quickly took the wind out of our sails. After working 6 days a week opening to closing without a break and losing money, I reflected on my old job. Working 8-5 with weekends off and a steady check started to look pretty good. Suddenly, my old boss looked a lot smarter than I had previously remembered. Despite all of the hardships, Alliance kept pushing on and now, I can proudly say we are the one out of ten businesses that didn't fail after the first three years. Not only did we not fail,but we never lost our ideals about being an honest shop.I always wanted to run a business I wouldn't be afraid to have my mother go to.We are still a  reputable car repair shop in North San Diego County. Now people from San Marcos, Escondido, Vista, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Temecula, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, San Diego, and beyond come all the way to our shop, because they know they're always getting the best deal, they won't be charged extra, if there's nothing wrong nothing will be paid, and we always diagnose the problem. Whether it be electrical, mechanical, something wrong with the engine, brakes or transmission. We always find the real problem and take care of it without all the headache.

Alliance Matures

Alliance Transmissions has now been in the car repair industry for over 23 years and we're still going on strong. Alliance has seen its fair share of challenges, and I must attribute our success to my personal commitment to honesty and integrity that has been followed up by top notch service from expert technicians and only the best parts. Since staying in business everyday is a gamble, I can't afford to risk buying unreliable parts or taking shortcuts when it comes to fixing anything. With that out in the open, I can't afford to sell junk or do poor job at servicing anyone's vehicle, our warranty makes sure of that. This is why I boast that over 85% of our day to day workload is from past customers. Since our customers are so important to us and have repeatedly requested additional work, we now offer many general automotive repair services in addition to our core transmission repair and Service Offerings.
